Gears of War splitscreen online?

I%26#39;m not sure but is there a way to play gears of war online with a buddy splitscreen? I swear I remember doing so several months back.. Is there no way to sign in a guest to play with me in a player match? thanks alot.Gears of War splitscreen online?
Yeah you goto splitscreen and then have your friend sign in.  You see on the bottom left/right ''profile 1, profile 2''Gears of War splitscreen online?
We tried that I%26#39;m pretty sure. We tried everything. I can%26#39;t get my buddy signed in as a guest of mine. Only my girlfriends profile which is only the silver membership and cannot go online. Please!! help!!
Go to the xbox live player match, then press Y. You can sign in as a guest or another profile.
We did that several times and it said '' we need an xbox live account to play online''?? Can anyone try this for me and tell me if they can get it to work? Did a recent update screw something up?? It really sucks we can%26#39;t get it to work..

well me and my brother play online..but we have a gold profile and a silver profile Im pretty sure you have to have at least one other silver membership to play together but if im wong just keep trying to sign in with another profile and go to player match

turn on both controllers and sign both in with gold accounts, that%26#39;ll do itOR, if you don%26#39;t have two gold accounts1. Turn xbox + controllers on, with one of them linked to a single gold account
2.Main gears menu -> Versus -> Xbox Live Player Match
3 you will now notice, at the bottom of the screen ''Y Guest Sign-in.  Press Y on the 2nd controller, one not linked to xbox live
4. This will bring up a tab where you can select a sign in.  Select ''Guest''
5. Done, find or create your player match!

If it%26#39;s worked; you should see at the bottom of the screen: Profile 1: LinkLoZ         Profile 2: LinkLoZ (1)
(where linkloz is a gamertag.. mine for instance)
